FUNCTIONAL GLASS SURFACES


The aim is to build up knowledge about the way glass surfaces can be modified to provide the glass with added value, thereby extending the areas in which glass can be used together with the Linnaeus University (LnU).



Background
The project is a continuation of the work on float glass carried out previously within collaborative projects involving Glafo and LnU.

The amount of glass used in our buildings is increasing. There is a demand of integrated functions of glass, from the user, environmental protection and energy efficiency perspectives.

Implementation
The project is starting off with a study of the literature and a market survey, to ensure that these form the basis for decision-making about the area in which it is best to invest.

This work implies a long-term build-up of the skills necessary to develop types of glass that have functional surfaces and the evaluation techniques associated with these.

This project will form the foundation of a major research grant application.
