PRELIMINARY STUDY – CHEMICAL STRENGTHENING OF FLAT GLASS


The objective is to make preparations for, and define, the postgraduate project "Chemical strengthening of processed areas of flat glass".

We will investigate whether the strength of a construction can be raised by performing a local chemical strengthening of the processed areas.

The preliminary study will be carried out as a literature study.

Then the main project will be carried out as a postgraduate project at Växjö University, with the principal focus on material properties. This may relate to chemical surface reactions and diffusion, but also to constructural aspects. The latter will be performed in cooperation with ongoing projects at Lund University. The postgraduate student will take up his post in January 2008.
