RE-USE OF CULLET – FROM WASTE TO RESOURCE (P4452)

The aim is to develop methods to be able to re-use ca. 75 per cent of the cullet at the glassworks in theKingdom of Crystal. Today the cullet goes to a landfill site.


Today fully 700 tonnes of cullet per year are rejected from the glassworks. By re-using cullet the energy consumption can be lowered with slightly more than 30 per cent at melting. By this project possibilities will be created to re-use with high efficiency, which will decrease the environmental strain, both concerning rejected waste products and lower energy consumption.

The project will continue for about two years. The financiers are: Sweden savings bank foundation Kronan, the County administrative board of Kronoberg, Regional Council in Kalmar County, Glafo, and the glass industry.
