RED GLASSES (P4451)

The aim is to transmit knowledge to industrial production in full scale of new types of red glasses and by that point out the environment friendly possibilities.



There is a great demand for red glasses. Traditionally these glasses contain cadmium as colouring agent. That results in colours of the whole spectrum, from yellow via orange and pink to a bright red colour. However, cadmium has a toxic effect and should not be used.

Glafo has developed other methods to achieve different red colour tones in laboratory scale. They are much more expensive than cadmium and / or make heavy demands on the production process.

Within this project we will test the results from the laboratory scale in a full-scale production to reveal the available possibilities to produce environment friendly red glasses.
