LOW MELTING GLASSES - (PR 444)

Energy saving up to 15%
There are many ways to save energy at glass melting. A possibility is changing the glass composition to reduce the demand for energy - the glass is more easily fusible. According to certain calculations an energy saving of 10 to 20 % could be possible.

Increased life of refractory
The aim of the project is to reduce the energy needs with up to 15 %. That makes the refractory and the furnace constructions last longer. The glass quality is presumed to be of the same class as today's crystal glass.

Project plan
The project will be performed by laboratory studies, primarily on the melting process. After that industrial tests will follow, where at first the energy consumption and working properties will be studied.
