The use of the CEM is intended for campaigns of process optimisation and empirical modelling, where it is important to follow the emissions for a longer period of time. The combination ISE for fluoride used in the prototype allows the emissions to be followed for periods up to four hours. After this, the ISE needs to be refilled with electrolyte. One aim for the planned project is to make further developments to extend the operational period to minimum 24 hours. Another aim is
related to the software. During the last year the software was improved
to give graphical presentations in real time. For sampling periods of
a few hours, the time between measurements was a fraction of a minute.
In this existing prototype, the programme uses the ten first measurements
to obtain a stable background for the measurements. Now when we need
to extend the sampling period this is not practical. With a time period
of three minutes chosen between each measurement, this means a long
time (thirty minutes) before the first value is plotted. This needs
to be improved in the new software. |
