WORKABILITY - FIBRE GLASS (PR 430)
The workability of a glass melt is often defined as a specific viscosity range. For manual glass the range is log
h = 3-5.

A fibre glass melt has a non-Newtonian behaviour
It has been shown quite recently that when a melt is exposed to severe mechanical force as when producing mineral fibres, the melt is acting as a non-Newtonian liquid. The dynamic properties of the melt which influences the forming of fibres can not be measured by ordinary viscometers.

Viskosimeters for fibre glass
The object of this project is to create a device by which viscoelastic properties for producing fibre glass are measured. The research will focuse on finding correlations between chemical compositions and workability in commercial fibre glass melts
